Is a Butterfly knife bottle opener illegal in the bay area?
excacly that, im buying off a friend and wants to know if illegal

PC 653K butterfly knives are illegal. And that thing is still a knife.
In reality, it depends on the cop I guess. It’s not a real knife, but still can be used for stabbing/cutting. On the other hand, pens and pencils can be used for stabbing just was well.
Basically, if cop follows the law to the letter, then it’s illegal, as the law only defines opening method and doesn’t cover what type/shape the blade is.
Obviously, this isn’t a typical knife, rather a multitool, so interpretation is up to LEO.
