What do you think happened to the Templar Knights?
After they were persecuted by the French king and the Pope, what happened to the ones that were never found? How did they escape?

They escaped persecution and prosecution by using their fleet of ships to escape. They had been building a fleet at that time and when the Kings men returned to arrest the remaining Templars, all the ships were gone with all of their riches.
They are believed to have escaped to Switzerland and could very well have founded the first Swiss banks- the Swiss symbol is a negative copy of their own coat of arms.
They also went on being mercenaries to help the smaller communities fight the bigger powers. They also are believed to have divulged certain intelligence to the old stone masons that built many kingdoms. The stone masons later became the Freemasons.
