Is it customary for women to go regimental in Kilt Skirts?
Last month I went to a Scottish festival that had a celtic rock band wrapping up the first evening, so things got a bit crazy. One girl in a Kilt Skirt got to twirling, and we all noticed who were around her that she was regimental, or no underwear. It was quite impressive.
Is it traditional for girls to also go regimental, if they feel like they need to be authentic? In a real kilt I could kind of see it, Kilt Skirts is a little risky in my book, but what do you think?
I don’t think Scottish women wore kilts traditionally. Kilts went into major use by men in the 17th century, and women wore longer skirts or dresses.
The first link quotes someone saying that Scottish women rarely wore stockings though. I don’t think there’s enough information on the topic.
I don’t really wear underwear anyway (seriously, easiest habit to let go of, but i’m also not twirling in short skirts). And… even if its a Scottish festival, if you aren’t wearing a traditional kilt then why go traditional in the other department?
