Smith & Wesson knives. I have a S&W Special Tactical CKTACS it is a very good knife, does not say China on it.?
I just bought a S&W knife CK6CH it says China underneath it. This knife on the other had does not work as well. The locking mechanism is hard to use (when you try to close the knife it gets stuck to far to the right and is EXTREMELY hard to move to the left to close knife. Ive had this same problem with another Smith and Wesson knife. I called Smith and Wesson and they said that they no longer make there knives they sold it to Taylor Brands in the 80’s. So do you know why this knife is so much worse? Is it just because Taylor Brands makes them now and its from China. Maybe my other one is old and was made by S&W back in the day? Thanks alot if you can answer my questions and if you have the same problem let me know, and how to tell what is a good S&W knife when buying it online. Oh and the one I just bought is $30.00 as apposed to the other witch is $15.00. Thank you.
I own both the USA and Chinese made Smith & Wesson brand knives. I agree that the USA made knives are smoother to operate and have better fit and feel to them. On the other hand, the newer Chinese made S&W knives are very reasonably priced (make the cheap). I was paying $20 for S&W knives back in the late 1970s (that was a great deal on them back then…as MSRP was closer to $30). Today, I can buy the Chinese S&W knives on eBay for under $7 each. So, 30 years later and I paying about 60% less? That’s a deal. And, that’s why I just consider the Smith & Wesson knives as everyday usem, breakem, losem kinda knives that I don’t get overly attached to.
