Sword Type
Is a sword, particularly a Katana, a simple machine and if so what type?
I’m doing a presentation for my physics class. I would think a sword is a wedge, but I am not sure.
A simple machine is a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force.
* Lever
* Wheel and axle
* Pulley
* Inclined plane
* Wedge
* Screw
It definately is a simple machine because it changes the magnitude of your force by concentrating it in a smaller area (the blade). This is why you can chop someone with your arms and nothing happens but chop them with a sword and it will cut them because your changing the forces.
