Which musashi sword for a 100 dollars should i get?

Hi, I am willing to buy a hundred dollar sword off this site. Which one should I get? some say they are 1065 high carbon blade and hand forged for the same price as a hand forged carbon blade please help me. Heres the site http://www.swordsofmight.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=55

We keep getting this question. Musashi dose not make swords, ok. They have other people make swords for them to sell. Some times the forge they contract dose a good job. Sometimes they make crap. With the Bamboo they hit a home run. Granted its a $100 katana, so it is not near perfect but it is by far the best you can do for the money.

“Hand forged” and “high carbon” are just marketing terms. What is important is how well it is constructed.

The Musashi Bamboo SS806BK is the only one that I would recommend.

The ito is very tight. That is good. Once it gets loose you basically have to buy a new ito and learn ito-maki. Ito-maki is very, very difficult and requires lots of practice just to do a halfway decent job, really you should just pay someone else to do it, but that cost more than the sword.

It has a real hammon. Nothing else in that price range has a real hammon. Its not traditionally clay covered and all that but the hammon is there and its real. It makes the blade look a lot better than that wire brushed or acid etched crap you usually see on blades in that price range.

They saya is pretty damn good for the price. Not fantastic, but much better than I expected. The fit on all the ones I have seen is a little tight but too tight is better than too loose.

The tsuka actually has a shape.

Another great thing is that they don’t have their company name on the habaki like on their other swords. Its on the seppa so if you just switch the seppa around its not there at all.

I don’t know what else say. Everything else they make is crap compared to what you can get from other companies for the same price or a little more. If you are going to buy a Musashi then the Bamboo is the only way to go.
