Why does my Suzuki Katana rev up really high suddenly on it’s own while idling?
I have a 2002 Suzuki Katana 600. Whenever I start the bike and let it idle in neutral at a normal idle speed, after anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes it will randomly just rev up really high on it’s own and get up to over 6,000 rpm in just a couple of seconds and I have to quickly shut it off. It will also do the same thing if it is idling normal and I rev it up. Instead of falling back to about 1,100 rpm it just starts climbing rpm’s really quickly on it’s own (while in neutral and I have let go of the throttle completely). Whenever I turn the idle screw down to try to keep this from happening, it won’t idle strong enough and just dies. I thought the fuel filter could be the issue, but I replaced it with a new one and new air filter as well…with no luck. What the heck is the deal?
turn off the choke….
or check all your tubings see if anything is not tied off completely or sealed or leaking etc
you shouldn’t warm up your bike for more than 3~5min
15 min your bike is prob. over heating…that’s why
